Police searching for Dulmatin’s bombs

The police are searching for bombs that had allegedly been assembled by top terrorist suspect Dulmatin prior to his death during a raid in South Tangerang on Tuesday.

National Police detective chief Comr. Gen. Ito Sumardi said Thursday the search followed the police’s discovery of detonators that could be operated using remote control.

“We found the detonators and we are still trying to locate the explosives or bombs,” Ito was quoted by kompas.com on the sidelines of a joint counterterrorism drill involving the police and Indonesian Military at the National Monument.

Ito said the police suspected Dulmatin Killed had assembled high-explosive bombs, given his bomb-making skills that played a part in the 2002 attacks on two nightclubs in Bali, which killed 202 people.

The police also seized a revolver, an FN pistol, an AK-47 and M-16 assault rifles and around 7,000 live bullets during a search that followed Tuesday’s raids.

“There may be more weapons hidden by the terror group. The suspects we have arrested are refusing to open their mouths with regard to the weapons,” Ito said.

He suspected, however, the weapons had been smuggled into the country fully assembled or in parts.
